Mark Wilson Farewell Celebration Thank You

October 8th was a day of joy and celebration for the music and liturgy ministry shared with Christian Temple by Mark Wilson for 26 years. Thank you to each person who attended the October 8th worship service and luncheon, to those unable to attend who sent good wishes, prayers, and support, and to everyone who contributed to the love gift and/or luncheon.

Many thanks go to: Joan Bosmans for donating the beautiful flowers that decorated the tables; Betty Moore and Cindy Wagner for sending invitations to Mark’s non-Christian Temple guests; the set-up crew (you know who you are); Sue Medicus and Betty Moore for the tablecloths; Lisa Nichols for coordinating the desserts table, Cheryl Gwynn Haymes for assisting her on Sunday, and each volunteer who brought in one of those delectable treats; Nancy and Howard Saks for being our day-of catering liaison and helping as needed in the kitchen; church administrator extraordinaire, Robin Picanso; Andrew Wecht for recording and editing Mark’s farewell video; Kathy Stansbery, who wrote the lyrics, and the choir, for their Mark Wilson song; and to each person who helped in any way whose name I have inadvertently missed.

Special thanks to the planning team, Pastor John Callaway, Joan Bosmans, Betty Moore, Lisa Nichols, and Cherie Miller.

Christian Temple is such a caring, friendly community. Thank you for the teamwork and support that made this retirement celebration a memorable day for Mark.

Agape,

Cherie

OCTOBER 29TH  (4pm - 5:30pm)

Can you believe that it's nearly Halloween??!  On Sunday, October 29th, we will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat for our church and community.  This event will take place on the church's lower parking lot.  **Unfortunately, there will be no Rain Date.

This community event will be held 4:00pm to 5:30pm.  Set up will occur one hour before the event (3pm) and break down/clean up will begin approximately 5:30pm and last until 6pm, if needed.  For safety reasons, vehicles must remain PARKED from 3:30pm to 5:45pm.  *Family-friendly/non-scary costumes and decorations, please.

We welcome persons and families to set up and decorate their vehicle trunks.  We also invite donations of candy and NON-candy treats (stickers, party-favor doo-dads, etc.) for those with allergies.  Donations will be collected in the Gathering.  Please, look for the box labeled "Halloween on the Hill Donations".

We will have an RSVP sign-up sheet in the Gathering area for those who want to participate. You can also call the office to let us know.

During the month of October, we will have bells, book, and banner in the Gathering. Please place the name(s) of those you wish to be raised up and remembered in our special worship service on November 5th in the book next to the banner; then pin a bell for each name on the red ribbons of the banner. If you are unable to be in-person at the worship services, please feel free to call the church and we will record your loved one’s name and place a bell on the banner for you.

OPERATION WARM COAT- UPDATE!

As of October 12th, the fund has received $1,508.00 towards donating 65 coats towards a total of 100 to the Duckett Lane Elementary School.

This 4th Winter Coat Drive aims to ensure that at least 100 children can stay warm and comfortable during the year's coldest months. A gift of $23.00 buys one coat while $115.00 will supply five winter coats to keep multiple children warm.  This coat drive will need to stop on November 18th in order to deliver the coats to the school by Thanksgiving.

If interested, please MAIL your gift to:  Operation Warm Inc,  P.O. Box 822431, Philadelphia,  PA 19182-2431

(Note on your check - "Doug Brice-Christian Temple")

Happy children celebrating on receiving their new coats!
